......2004 - 2007
Rev. Jacqueline T. King was appointed on June 1, 2004 by Bishop Alfred Norris and commissioned as a Probationary Elder in May 2005 by Bishop Janice Riggle Huie to minister to the needs of our multigenerational congregation. Over the past 3 years, many ministries have been explored and expanded as this era focusing upon transformation evolves in our church through a New Model for Ministry implemented at the 2006 Texas Annual Conference. Through the leadership of Pastor King, St. Paul has strengthened our connectional relationships, received numerous UMW awards, implemented community partnerships, honored great Port Arthurans, increased youth leadership in worship, established new communitywide outreach events for senior adults and increased God’s witness to the world through the website at www.stpaulportarthur.org. With great vision exciting ministry partnerships were created with Cedar Street UMC – Computer Project, Praise Dance / Mime and family outreach with the Temple, Aldersgate Trinity, and First UMC, Groves – community revival, senior fair, voting machine training, blood drive and summer reading program with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., NAACP, Ladies of Distinction, and expanded 1st Saturday feeding ministry with Harvest Time Ministries. The Lay Speaking Ministry increased through both youth and adult participation coupled with David Malveaux II representing St. Paul at Perkins Youth School of Theology in 2005-2007. Wreneshia Loyd and Whitney Norman received many scholarships including the Ethnic Scholarship from the General Board of Higher Education. It is with great excitement that our past is praised, our future is pondered and our present is celebrated through the promises of Jesus Christ by living a life full of love, forgiveness, grace and mercy. May today begin a new path of wholeness on this journey of celebration! Let the praise begin…
