Intro and Prayer: Everyone has experienced the phrase “Just Do It” at some point in our lives. Whether we heard it on TV from the Nike commercial or whether it came from the front room instructions from an aunt, uncle, parent or grandparent. Regardless of the origin, the mandate is still the same “Just Do It.” What is the “it” in your life that you are reluctant to do? How much joy are you missing because the “it” keeps bugging you in the middle of the night? If you are wondering what the “it” is, I don’t want to keep you in suspense…it is forgiveness. Wait one minute before you turn off the mental switch and think this reflection belongs to someone else, give me a chance to explore these passages to identify what Jesus is asking us to do. As you keep these questions before you, take a moment to hear God’s Word for us today through Habakkuk 1: 1-4 and 2: 1-4, and Luke 17: 1-10 and 2 Timothy 1 from the Bible Experience. This is the Word of God…let us pray.
Gracious Lord, thank you for just being God and freely offering us grace this day. Search our hearts, minds and bodies. Remove the sin through a forgiving spirit and your saving grace. Call us into action through love of God, self and neighbor. Please grant us clarity of thought, mind and deed, so that our desire to obey you will increase. Grant us great faith as your mustard seeds find fertile ground to sprout. May we be filled with the Holy Spirit as we walk in newness from this moment forward. In Jesus’ name we pray…Amen. |
